Our computers are wonderful devices. They allow us to search and store information to our hearts content. Before we know it, our saved information creates a sluggish process. Over time, excess files slow down computer function. They also slow down our work pace as we waste time scrolling through a long list of documents and searching for misplaced files.
Today is National Clean Out Your Computer Day, so it’s the perfect time to do the following:
- Back up all your files, documents and pictures on an external hard drive
- Delete files and bookmarks you no longer need
- Organize remaining files and bookmarks – use folders when possible
- Uninstall programs you no longer use
What’s that, you say? You’ve already scheduled a full day of tasks? No problem! Dedicate a day later this month to whip your computer into shape.
If the idea of spending the day with your nose in your computer brings tears to your eyes, break it down into bite-sized chunks. Set aside a couple of hours a week for the next four weeks to work on each of the above bulleted tasks.
Before you know it, your computer will be as streamlined and smooth-flowing as your wedding day timelines!
